A.R RAHMAN WINS B4U MUSIC OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD AT THE UK ASIAN MUSIC AWARDS 2009
It was a victorious and compelling night for B4U MUSIC at the UK Asian Music Awards this year with performances that exemplified talent and diversity to a vibrant and energetic crowd. Located at the prominent Royal Festival Hall in London’s Southbank Centre the event featured a variety of performances and prestigious awards.
B4U Music VJ Salil, who presented the ceremony alongside Karen David, kept the crowd amused with his with his confident and witty charisma. The star studded event included performances by Bishi, H. Dhami, Juggy D, Mumzy, Tasha Tah, Veronica, Jas Dhami, Chunni and Mona Singh, Des-C, D Boy, Sef, Shayal and American Superstars Jagged Edge.
Amongst the winners was the king of the UK Asian music scene Jay Sean who scooped the award for Best Male act and the best urban act.
M.I.A, who has recently gained a large amount of worldwide fame for her track ‘Paper Planes’ which featured in the box office hit Slumdog Millionaire and also for her collaboration with American Hip Hop artists Jay Z, Lil Wayne, T.I and Kanye west, won the award for best female act. Rishi Rich walked away with the award for best producer and commitment to the scene, and Bobby Friction won the award for best radio host. Other winners included Gurdaas Maan, H Dhami and Jazzy B.
However the most prestigious award of the night was the B4U MUSIC outstanding Achievement award, which was proudly presented to A.R Rahman, whose recent success for his music in Slumdog Millionaire made him an international winner at the Oscars, Baftas and Academy awards. B4U MUSIC was pleased to present the renowned musician with yet another commendable award; the channel had been following his success and was exceptionally delighted with his worldwide attainment.
