Amplifier Star Imran Khan Features on 'The Infidel' Soundtrack.
Asian music star Imran Khan is set to feature on the soundtrack for upcoming British comedy ‘The Infidel’. The film, which releases in the UK on April 9th, features two songs by the award winning artist, including his first smash hit ‘Ni Nachleh’ and an unreleased mix of ‘Aaja Ve Mahiya’.
‘The Infidel’ stars British-Iranian comedian Omid Djalili as Muslim family man ‘Mahmud Nasir’. Featuring an original screenplay by writer and comedian David Baddiel, ‘The Infidel’ brings a unique twist to the age-old question of nature versus nurture.
‘The Infidel’ also stars Archie Panjabi (‘Bend it Like Beckham’, ‘East is East’), newcomer Amit Shah, Ravin Ganatra, Igal Naor (‘Greenzone’, ‘House of Saddam’), and Emmy award winner Richard Schiff (‘The West Wing’), as well as featuring an array of comedy-cameos from Matt Lucas, David Schneider, Miranda Hart and Paul Kaye.
Djalili’s character Mahmud is a loving husband to wife Saamiya (Panjabi), doting father to Rashid (Shah) and something of a “relaxed” Muslim. After the death of his mother, Mahmud is hit by a shock revelation when he discovers not only was he adopted at birth, but that he is Jewish, and his real name is Solly Shimshillewitz!
Khan says: “’The Infidel’ is a very funny film and Omid Djalili is superb. I’m excited that the producers have chosen to feature two of my songs in key moments of the film and am delighted that the film is receiving great reviews in the UK.”
The star studded world premiere of ‘The Infidel’, in association with Comic Relief, will be taking place at the Hammersmith Apollo on April 8th ahead of the film’s UK release on April 9th. The film has now been sold to 62 countries worldwide with the North American premiere taking place at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 25th.
