Show Off Your Dancing Talents!
Punch presents a yearlong series of cutting edge underground dance events as part of Desi Moves. Desi Moves, part of Dancing for the Games, seeks to engage the Midlands’ diverse communities in the Cultural Olympiad and the build up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Through Desi Moves Punch will be working with schools across Birmingham and the Black Country, consisting of professional artist led workshops teaching young people a Desi style; Bollywood, Bhangra or Giddha. Participants will perform their routine at Sandwell & Birmingham Mela in Smethwick, Saturday 30 June 2012, one of Britain’s largest outdoor Asian Cultural event. The Birmingham Olympic relay will pass through Sandwell and Birmingham on Saturday 30 June 2012.
Desi Moves in partnership with International Dance Festival Birmingham (IDFB) presents 2012’s hottest Asian-Fusion dance competition. This includes; an impromptu audience dance led by Foji Gill, a renowned dance act and celebrity judges; Foji Gill, Toffee (Sticky Dance Studio) and Honey Kalaria (Honey’s Dance Academy).
